The need for an external review may arise for a number of reasons; an adverse event or near miss, the introduction of a new model of care, a service change or it may be the result of a service aiming to improve their efficiency.

While at the Agency for Clinical Innovation Gavin undertook of reviews of surgical services for Local Health Districts and hospitals focussing on surgical processes and operating theatre efficiency.

Our aim is to work with the clinicians and managers who deliver the service to better understand the issues and opportunities and present the findings back to the organisation in a way that helps them to prioritise their actions for maximum benefit.
